Product Description

Crafted Details

The Montecristo No. 3 is the most classic expression of the Montecristo range — a 5 1/2″ × 42 Corona that has been in continuous production since the brand’s founding in 1935. Where the No. 2 is the showpiece, the No. 3 is the working cigar: consistent, reliable and deeply satisfying in a format that asks for nothing more than an hour of unhurried attention.

The Corona vitola suits the Montecristo blend particularly well. At 42 ring gauge, the leaf construction keeps the burn cool and the draw clean, producing a more refined expression of the brand’s signature coffee-and-cedar profile than the thicker ring gauges allow. The first third opens with roasted coffee and dry cedar; the mid-section adds roasted almonds and a light chocolate note; the close is warm and dry with a gentle pepper finish.

Rolled at the H. Upmann factory in Havana, the No. 3 carries the same production standards as the rest of the range. Construction is consistently firm, the wrapper a smooth Colorado with a satisfying ring. It is a cigar that experienced smokers reach for when they want something dependable, and a natural starting point for those ready to move beyond lighter blends.

Frequently Asked

Common Questions

How Does The Montecristo No. 3 Compare To The No. 2?

The No. 3 Is Lighter In Body And More Accessible — A Medium-strength Corona Versus The Medium-full Piramides Of The No. 2. The No. 3 Is More Consistent And Suits A Broader Range Of Occasions; The No. 2 Is More Complex And Rewarding For Experienced Smokers.

Is The Montecristo No. 3 A Good Cigar To Try If I Am New To Cuban Cigars?

Yes. Its Medium Strength And Well-known Profile Make It An Ideal Introduction To The Cuban Smoking Tradition. It Is Accessible Without Being Simplified.

What Does 'No. 3' Mean In The Montecristo Range?

The Numbering System In The Original Montecristo Range (No. 1 Through No. 5) Refers To Size, Not Quality. No. 1 Is The Largest (a Cervantes), No. 5 The Smallest. The No. 3 Is The Mid-point: A Classic Corona.
