The CAO Pilón takes its name from the traditional pilón method of ageing tobacco in large fermenting piles, which rounds out and deepens the leaf. In the Robusto Extra it delivers a rich, full-flavoured smoke with real character.
An oily Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper sits over a Nicaraguan binder and a filler of Nicaraguan and Dominican leaf. The construction is solid, the draw even, the burn dependable.
Flavours lead with earth and leather, moving through a peppery spice into a cocoa and coffee sweetness on the finish. It is a medium to full cigar for smokers who like depth. A New World (non-Cuban) cigar, handmade in Nicaragua.
