Crafted Details
The New World Dorado is the fifth and most refined chapter in AJ Fernandez’s New World family. Released in 2022, it takes its name from the Dorado farm in Estelí, Nicaragua, where the majority of its tobacco is grown. This is a cigar with a clear sense of place, and the Robusto is its most balanced format.
The wrapper is a golden, sun-grown Cuban-seed leaf, box-pressed to a clean edge and finished with a soft sheen. Beneath it sits a Criollo ’98 binder and a filler drawn from the Dorado farm alongside AJ’s holdings in Condega and Estelí. The construction is precise, the draw smooth, the burn even.
The smoke opens with caramel sweetness and warm cedar, building through a mid-section of cocoa, roasted nuts and a gentle baking spice. The final third adds depth without turning harsh. It is medium to full in body, with the polish you would expect from AJ Fernandez’s more considered work.
